Two excellent options to protect your computer from the omni-present threat of viral infection are: AVG and Avira. I have used both over long periods without any infections. They both seem to offer sufficient protection from infection and varying amounts of interference with other processes running on the computer. I have found that when AVG updates its software – not the daily update of virus signatures, it returns to default protection settings regarding its internal firewall. This can effect access to network devices and drives.
