Greetings from the front-line! One of my overseas clients suddenly experienced an activation error on her laptop during the last half of May 2014, the client had not used the laptop in over a month. The computer dutifully installed all the updates since the last round and restarted. On to work; open Word load a file, except that her registered copy of Office now was asking for the registration number and closing itself! At this point the client skyped me and asked for assistance, I re-ran the registration activation process and restarted the computer, logged back in using Team Viewer, opened Word and voila no problems. Well next day I get another skype from the client complaining that Outlook is taking 20 minutes to load… Now what? I login and everything seems fine, Outlook loads in less than 15 seconds, the client logs in takes 20 minutes we repeat this a couple of times; same result. The only difference is the screen colours are reduced to 256 when I use the remote access tool, perhaps it has something to do with the graphic card drivers. Do a Google search and come up with several possibilities; the best one indicated a problem within Office 2013 and graphic card acceleration. Turning off the graphic card acceleration in Office 2013 computer worked!
Solution
From the File tab, select Options and then click on Advanced and then in the Display section of the dialog, check the box for Disable hardware graphics acceleration
